The XA70’s 1-inch CMOS sensor provides approximately 8.29 effective megapixels for native 4K UHD recording. Compared with smaller camcorder sensors, its larger imaging area offers improved low-light performance, reduced noise, and greater control over background separation.

Canon’s DIGIC DV 6 processor delivers natural color and detailed images in both 4K and Full HD.

Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF provides smooth, fast, and accurate focusing across approximately 80% of the image area.

Touch AF allows the operator to select a subject directly on the 3.5-inch LCD, while Face Detection and Face Tracking maintain focus on speakers, performers, and interview subjects. AF-Boosted Manual Focus combines manual control with automatic focus confirmation, and the Dual Pixel Focus Guide assists precise manual focusing.

The XA70 combines optical lens-shift stabilization with electronic correction to reduce camera shake. Dynamic IS provides five-axis stabilization for handheld and walking shots, while Standard and Powered IS modes support general shooting and long-telephoto work.

🌤️ Built-In ND Filters

A motorized neutral-density filter system provides three strengths:

🌙 Infrared Recording

💻 USB-C Streaming and HDMI Output

The XA70 can stream HD video through USB-C using the UVC standard when connected to a compatible Windows or Mac computer. This allows the camcorder to serve as a streaming camera without a separate capture device.

A mini-HDMI connection provides video output for monitors, recorders, switchers, and other production equipment. The XA70 does not include the 3G-SDI output found on the otherwise similar XA75.

A compatible USB-C cable is required for streaming and sold separately. Audio is not transmitted through the UVC USB output.
