Its 61MP back-illuminated Exmor R sensor produces remarkably detailed images with wide dynamic range, accurate color, and strong low-light performance. 🖼️ Extraordinary 61MP Resolution

The a7R IVA’s 61MP full-frame, back-illuminated Exmor R sensor captures extremely fine detail, subtle tonal transitions, and accurate color. Its resolution makes it ideal for large prints, commercial reproduction, detailed product work, and photographs that require significant cropping.

In APS-C crop mode, the camera still produces images of approximately 26MP. This gives wildlife and sports photographers additional apparent reach while retaining enough resolution for professional use.

🌈 Wide Dynamic Range and Natural Color

Approximately 15 stops of dynamic range at lower sensitivities help preserve information in both bright highlights and deep shadows. The BIONZ X processor and front-end LSI provide natural tonal gradation, accurate color reproduction, and effective noise reduction.

The camera’s standard sensitivity range of ISO 100–32000 can be expanded from ISO 50 to 102400, providing flexibility for studio, landscape, event, and available-light photography.

⚡ High-Speed Shooting at 10 fps

Despite its extremely high resolution, the a7R IVA can capture full-resolution images at up to 10 frames per second with continuous autofocus and auto-exposure tracking.

Its large buffer supports extended bursts, making the camera capable of photographing wildlife, weddings, events, and action—not just stationary studio subjects.

🎯 Wide, Responsive Autofocus Coverage

The Fast Hybrid AF system combines 567 phase-detection points with 425 contrast-detection points. Phase-detection coverage extends across approximately 74% of the full-frame image area and nearly the entire frame when shooting in APS-C mode.

Real-time Tracking uses subject color, pattern, distance, and face information to maintain focus as a subject moves through the frame. Real-time Eye AF helps produce consistently sharp portraits of people and animals.

🖐️ Five-Axis Image Stabilization

The five-axis in-body image stabilization system provides up to approximately 5.5 stops of compensation. It corrects pitch, yaw, roll, and horizontal and vertical movement to help produce sharper handheld photographs.

Because stabilization is built into the camera body, it works with a wide range of Sony E-mount lenses, including lenses without their own optical stabilization.

🔬 Pixel Shift Multi Shooting

Pixel Shift Multi Shooting uses the camera’s stabilization mechanism to move the image sensor in precise increments between exposures. Sony Imaging Edge software can combine the resulting files into an image with approximately 240.8 megapixels.

This mode also records complete color information at each pixel location, improving fine detail, texture, color accuracy, and tonal gradation. It is particularly valuable for artwork reproduction, architecture, product photography, archival work, and other stationary subjects.

🎥 Detailed 4K Video

The a7R IVA records UHD 4K video at up to 30p. When shooting in Super 35 mode, it uses full-pixel readout without pixel binning and oversamples the image for increased detail and reduced moiré.

S-Log2 and S-Log3 provide expanded dynamic range for color grading, while Hybrid Log-Gamma supports HDR workflows. Full HD recording at up to 120p allows slow-motion playback.

Real-time Eye AF and Real-time Tracking remain available for video, helping solo operators maintain focus on moving subjects.

The 5.76-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder provides a large, highly detailed view for critical focusing and precise composition.

The a7R IVA revision features an upgraded 3.0" tilting LCD with approximately 2.36 million dots. Its higher resolution makes it easier to evaluate focus, image detail, menus, and playback compared with the original a7R IV display.

💾 Dual UHS-II Card Slots

Both memory-card slots support UHS-I and UHS-II SD cards. The camera can record files simultaneously for backup, switch automatically from one card to the other, or separate RAW, JPEG, still, and video files.

USB-C, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, tethered shooting, FTP transfer, and PC Sync connectivity support professional studio and location workflows.
