✨ 66.8MP Stacked Full-Frame Sensor

The a7R VI is the first Alpha 7R-series camera to use a fully stacked Exmor RS sensor. It delivers approximately 66.8 megapixels of resolution while providing readout speeds up to 5.6 times faster than its predecessor.

The sensor captures exceptional fine detail for landscapes, architecture, portraits, artwork reproduction, and commercial photography while also providing the speed required for wildlife and action.

🌄 Wide Dynamic Range and Natural Color

Up to 16 stops of dynamic range at lower sensitivities help retain information in both bright highlights and deep shadows. The standard ISO range of 100–32,000 can be expanded from ISO 50 to 102,400 for still photography.

A Visible Light and infrared sensor works with AI-based illumination estimation to produce more consistent automatic white balance and natural color under changing lighting conditions.

⚡ Full-Resolution Shooting at 30 fps

The stacked sensor and BIONZ XR2 processor allow blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30 frames per second while maintaining full 66.8MP resolution and continuous autofocus and exposure tracking.

The camera performs up to 60 AF/AE calculations per second, helping it follow complex movement. Pre-Capture can preserve images from immediately before the shutter is fully pressed, while a customizable speed-boost function allows the burst rate to be increased when decisive action begins.

Maximum shooting speed and buffer performance depend on camera settings, lens, battery condition, and memory media.

🎯 Advanced AI Subject Recognition

Real-time Recognition AF+ uses AI-based pose estimation to recognize and track human subjects—even when a face is turned away, partially obscured, or relatively small within the frame.

Selectable recognition modes include:

The 759-point phase-detection autofocus system covers approximately 94% of the image area, giving photographers greater freedom when composing subjects away from the center.

🖐️ High-Performance Image Stabilization

The redesigned stabilization system provides up to 8.5 stops of compensation near the center of the image and up to 7 stops toward the periphery. Improved correction helps preserve the camera’s fine resolution when shooting handheld and provides additional stability when using telephoto lenses.

Pixel Shift Multi Shooting, low-noise composite shooting, HDR composite shooting, and focus bracketing provide additional tools for specialized high-resolution work.

🎥 Advanced 8K and 4K Video

The a7R VI records full-frame 4K video at up to 120p without cropping, with 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 color sampling. It can also record highly detailed 8K video at up to 30p using 8.2K oversampling.

S-Log3, S-Gamut3, S-Gamut3.Cine, S-Cinetone, and imported user LUTs support both color-graded and ready-to-deliver workflows. Dynamic Active stabilization provides stronger correction for handheld movie recording when an electronic crop is acceptable.

👁️ High-Resolution Viewing

The 9.44-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder offers a wide color gamut, 10-bit display depth, and greatly increased brightness for clear viewing outdoors.

Sony’s four-axis multi-angle monitor combines a tilting mechanism with side-opening articulation. The 3.2-inch touchscreen can be positioned for horizontal, vertical, high-angle, low-angle, or front-facing shooting.

🔋 New Battery and Charging System

The a7R VI introduces Sony’s high-capacity NP-SA100 rechargeable battery. Its 2670 mAh capacity provides approximately 600 images using the viewfinder or 710 images using the LCD monitor under CIPA testing conditions.

The included BC-SAD1 charger accepts two batteries and supports USB Power Delivery for faster, convenient charging.

💾 Professional Storage and Connectivity

Both memory-card slots accept CFexpress Type A or UHS-I/UHS-II SD media. The camera supports simultaneous backup, automatic overflow, and separating RAW, JPEG, HEIF, or video files between cards.

Two USB-C terminals provide flexible data transfer and power options, while high-speed Wi-Fi supports the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands. The optional Sony VG-C6 Vertical Grip is available for extended assignments and vertical shooting.
