Combining Sony Cinema Line image quality with the mobility of a compact mirrorless-style body, the Sony FX3A is designed for solo filmmakers, documentary crews, commercial productions, weddings, streaming, and professional content creation.

Its 12.1MP full-frame sensor delivers outstanding low-light performance, more than 15 stops of dynamic range, and detailed 4K recording at up to 120p. The included detachable XLR handle provides professional audio connections and improved handheld operation without requiring a separate cage or audio adapter.

The updated FX3A retains the proven imaging and production capabilities of the FX3 while introducing a higher-resolution 2.36-million-dot LCD touchscreen for clearer monitoring and menu operation.

🎬 Full-Frame Cinematic Image Quality

The FX3A uses a full-frame, back-illuminated Exmor R sensor optimized for video production. Its approximately 12.1 effective megapixels provide excellent sensitivity, reduced noise, and fast sensor readout without the burden of unnecessarily high resolution.

More than 15 stops of dynamic range help preserve detail in bright highlights and deep shadows, giving filmmakers greater flexibility when lighting, exposing, and color grading a scene.

🌙 Exceptional Low-Light Performance

With a standard sensitivity range extending to ISO 102400 and expansion up to ISO 409600, the FX3A is exceptionally capable in dimly lit environments.

Its full-frame sensor and advanced noise reduction make it well suited for weddings, events, documentaries, concerts, available-light filmmaking, and productions where adding extensive lighting is not practical.

🎨 S-Cinetone and Professional Color Control

S-Cinetone produces natural skin tones, rich color, and smooth highlight roll-off directly in the camera. It can provide an attractive cinematic look with minimal post-production, making it valuable for projects with fast turnaround requirements.

For productions requiring extensive color grading, S-Log3 and S-Gamut3.Cine provide a wide dynamic range and flexible color workflow. User-imported LUT support allows custom monitoring looks to be applied while recording.

🎞️ 4K Recording up to 120p

The FX3A records UHD 4K at frame rates up to 120p, allowing detailed slow-motion footage with full autofocus capability. Full HD recording at up to 240p provides additional creative slow-motion options.

Internal 10-bit 4:2:2 recording produces smoother tonal transitions and greater flexibility for color correction, compositing, and chroma-key work. A full-size HDMI output can also provide 16-bit RAW video data to a compatible external recorder.

🎯 Fast, Dependable Autofocus

The Fast Hybrid AF system uses 627 phase-detection points for wide, responsive coverage. Real-time Eye AF and Real-time Tracking help maintain focus on moving subjects, allowing a solo operator to concentrate on composition and camera movement.

Adjustable autofocus transition speed and subject-shift sensitivity allow focus behavior to be tailored for smooth cinematic transitions or fast-moving action.

🚶 Handheld Stabilization

Five-axis in-body image stabilization helps reduce camera shake when shooting handheld. Active Mode adds electronic compensation for smoother footage while walking or working without a gimbal.

The camera also records stabilization metadata that can be used with Sony Catalyst software for additional correction during post-production.

🎙️ Included Professional XLR Handle

The supplied detachable XLR handle provides two full-size XLR/TRS combination inputs with selectable line, microphone, and 48V phantom-power settings. A third 3.5mm input supports additional audio sources, with recording options including 24-bit four-channel audio.

The handle attaches through the camera’s Multi Interface Shoe, so it does not require separate batteries or an external audio cable. It also provides a secure grip for handheld and low-angle shooting, along with additional accessory mounting points.

🖥️ Updated High-Resolution LCD

The FX3A features an updated 3.0" vari-angle touchscreen with approximately 2.36 million dots. Its side-opening design supports high-angle, low-angle, handheld, and gimbal-mounted operation while providing clearer focus and exposure monitoring than the original FX3 display.

A full-size HDMI Type-A connection offers a durable interface for external monitors, recorders, and production equipment.

❄️ Designed for Extended Recording

An internal cooling fan, heat-dissipation structure, and optimized airflow allow extended 4K recording. Fan operation can be adjusted to suit different environments, including productions where quiet operation is important.

Front and rear tally lamps, an illuminated top recording button, and an optional red recording frame on the monitor make it easy for both the operator and subject to confirm recording status.

🔧 Built for Rigs—or Ready Without One

Five 1/4"-20 threaded mounting points allow accessories such as monitors, lights, wireless receivers, and handles to attach directly to the camera body. This reduces the need for a separate cage while retaining the flexibility to build a larger production rig.

Dual card slots accept both CFexpress Type A and UHS-I/II SD cards and support simultaneous recording, relay recording, and separate media organization.
