The FX30 uses a back-illuminated APS-C sensor that provides the familiar perspective and depth of field associated with the Super 35 cinema format. Its approximately 26-megapixel resolution allows the camera to capture extensive image data and produce highly detailed 4K footage through 6K oversampling.

The Super 35 format works especially well with Sony’s compact APS-C E-mount lenses while remaining fully compatible with full-frame Sony E-mount lenses.

UHD 4K recording at up to 120p allows the FX30 to capture smooth, detailed slow-motion footage. Internal 10-bit 4:2:2 recording preserves rich color information for editing and color grading, while multiple XAVC recording formats help balance image quality, file size, and post-production requirements.

High-frame-rate recording may apply an additional image crop and require high-performance memory media.

Sony’s S-Cinetone profile delivers pleasing skin tones, natural highlight reproduction, and a refined cinematic look directly from the camera. For productions requiring extensive color correction, S-Log3 provides more than 14 stops of dynamic range under suitable conditions.

Cine EI, Cine EI Quick, and Flexible ISO modes support a variety of professional exposure workflows. Custom LUTs can be imported for monitoring or applied directly to recorded footage when a finished look is required quickly.

🎙️ Included Professional XLR Handle

The included XLR handle unit attaches securely to the FX30’s Multi Interface Shoe without requiring additional audio cables or batteries. It provides two full-size XLR/TRS combination inputs with convenient physical controls for adjusting recording levels, input selection, attenuation, and low-cut filtering.

A 3.5mm stereo input supports an additional audio source, allowing the FX30 to record up to four channels of digital audio when properly configured.

The handle also improves control during low-angle and handheld shooting. Three threaded mounting points provide convenient attachment locations for a microphone, monitor, wireless receiver, light, or other production accessories.

🎯 Advanced Autofocus

Sony’s Fast Hybrid AF system provides dependable subject acquisition and tracking. Real-time Eye AF recognizes people, animals, and birds, while adjustable AF transition speed and subject-shift sensitivity allow focusing behavior to be matched to the scene.

Both memory-card slots accept either CFexpress Type A cards or UHS-I/UHS-II SD cards. The slots can be configured for simultaneous backup, automatic overflow, proxy recording, or separating different file types.

Certain high-data-rate formats require CFexpress Type A or appropriately rated SDXC media.
